Description
A tangible relic from the times of Lajos II dated 1522 LK, this Garas coin highlights a seated Veiled Madonna with the child in her right arm, neatly divided by a mintmark. This obverse is graced with the lettering "* LVDOVICVS * D * G * R * VNGARIE *". On the reverse, a distinct twofold Hungarian shield stands out, adorned with Árpád stripes and a double cross poised on a triple hill, all encircled by pearls. The historical notation "MONETA · NOVA · ANNO · DOMINI · 1522 L K·" accompanies this shield.
